Mead rallies, eliminates Tigers

Anna Kessler’s goal in the 79th minute gave the Mead girls soccer team a 2-1 come-from-behind victory over Lewis and Clark in a District 8 4A elimination match Friday night at Spokane Falls Community College.

Jacqueline Hamby gave the Tigers (12-4) a 1-0 lead with a goal in the 67th minute.

The Panthers’ Martha Heaps knotted the match at 1 with a goal in the 73rd minute, before Kessler’s match-winner.

The win gave Mead (13-3) the second seed to the subregional tournament. The Panthers will play Richland or Chiawana on Tuesday at Joe Albi Stadium.

University 5, North Central 0: Sarah Melvin scored two second-half goals and the Titans blanked the Indians in a District 8 3A match at Spokane Falls Community College.

University’s Rylee Rassier opened the scoring in the 21st minute.

The win gave University (9-5) the second seed to the subregional tournament, which starts on Tuesday.

North Central (5-9) advances as the third seed.
