Obituary: Burmingham, Charles A.

Age 90

BURMINGHAM, Charles A.

March 27, 1923 - October 25, 2013 Charles “Chuck” Arthur Burmingham, a loving father, “Poppo,” uncle, and friend passed away October 25th, 2013.

Chuck was born to John and Ethyle Burmingham on March 27, 1923 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

He grew up in Marion, IA with his parents and sister Charlese.

Chuck attended the University of Iowa where he earned a B.A.

in Speech.

Upon graduation, Charles moved to Great Falls, Montana where he accepted a job at KFBB radio station.

While in Great Falls, he met the love of his life Eloise Wiprud.

They married on June 25th, 1949.

In 1951, Chuck and Eloise moved to Spokane where they lived the rest of their lives and raised one daughter, Janet Leslie.

Chuck worked in advertising sales at KHQ Television for almost 50 years.

He was a longtime member of Spokane Advertising Federation, and was awarded the prestigious Advertising Professional of the Year in 1990.

He was also a member of the Spokane Central Lions Club, where he once served as President.

Chuck acted in various local theatre productions at Spokane Civic Theatre, Spokane Children’s Theatre, Spokane Opera, Heritage Theatre, Valley Repertory Theater, and Dorothy Darby Smith’s Reader’s Theatre Group.

Chuck was a fantastic singer and was always singing.

He studied with Sister Marietta Coyle, was a charter member of the Spokane Symphony Chorale, a member of the Spokane Chorateur Group, as well as a soloist and song leader at various churches.

Later in life, Chuck was a resident of Touchmark on South Hill and Moran Vista Senior Living, where he enjoyed the many activities and outings with his countless friends.

Chuck is survived by his daughter Janet Munstedt; grandchildren Jared Munstedt, Jill Munstedt, and Gunnar Watson III, and great-grand-dog Kellar, all of Spokane.

In addition to numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 45 years Eloise Burmingham, parents John and Ethyle Burmingham; and sister Charlese Domer Hearn.

A celebration of his life will be held Sunday, November 3rd at 2pm at Spokane Civic Theatre (1020 N. Howard St., Spokane, 99201) with Pastor Scott Eymer officiating.
