Obituary: Johnson, Adoline T.

Age 87

JOHNSON, Adoline T. (Age 87) Died peacefully with family members by her side September 18, 2013, in Spokane Valley.

She was born Adoline Tilda Swatsfager in Bismarck, ND on December 13, 1925.

Following the death of her parents, when she was very young, Adoline was adopted by her Aunt Annie and Uncle Magnus Erickson.

Adoline was raised in Taylor, ND, then came west where she worked as a welder in the shipyards in Seattle and Portland during WWII.

She married George Joseph Johnson July 7, 1946.

Following a time in Amboy, WA where they operated a tavern, the couple decided to settle down in Detroit, MI, but stopped in Spokane to visit relatives and never left.

The two of them bought property in the Spokane Valley, together began building their home in 1947, and Adoline remained there until she died.

They were founding members of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and developed many close friendships with the other members.

Adoline had a talent for decorating which she used to paint and wallpaper many homes in the area.

She loved painting, bowling, pool and playing cards.

Her benevolent nature was displayed as she cared for her parents, aunts and uncles in their later years.

She is preceded in death by her husband George in 2002.

She is survived by three daughters, Sydne Johnson of Spokane Valley, Terry Baldwin (Keith) of Spokane Valley, Linda Mulvey (Tim) of Spokane; six grandchildren, LeeAnn Talbot (Dan), Lori Brittain (Chad), Chad Baldwin (Jessica), Stephanie Baldwin, Ryan Mulvey, Scott Mulvey; six great-grandchildren, Ava, Audrey, Penelope, Tucker, Skylar, and Olivia.

A memorial service will be held on November 9th, 2013 at 2:00pm at the Hazen & Jaeger Valley Funeral Home, 1306 N. Pines Rd., Spokane Valley, WA 99206.
