Obituary: Benzel, Herb

BENZEL, Herb (Age 84) Passed away on November 2, 2013 at his home in Ritzville after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

He was surrounded by his family at the time of his death.

He was born on December 18, 1928 to Fred and Lydia Benzel and farmed his entire life in Ritzville.

Herb is survived by his wife Shannon at the family farm; son Randy (Carolyn) Benzel; daughter Melinda Benzel; stepson Marty (Linda) Erdman; stepdaughters Roni (Jerry) Craddock and Cori (Jeff) Yeager and as he would say “his other son” Mike (Joyce) Presto; two brothers: Gerry (Vicki) Benzel and Bob (Meridith) Benzel; ten grandchildren, Justin Benzel, Austin Benzel, Stephanie (Aaron) Madison, Ryan Erdman, Jake Yeager, Samantha Yeager, Brianna Craddock, Addison Fair, Anna Fair and Jackson Fair; two great-grandchildren Ava Madison and Alaina Madison.

He had numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Wednesday, November 6, 2013 from 12:00 Noon to 6:00 PM at Danekas Funeral Home in Ritzville.

Private family services and Interment at Ritzville Memorial Cemetery will be Thursday.

A public reception will be Thursday, November 7, 2013 at 1:00 PM at the American Legion Hall in Ritzville.

In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to: Ritzville Food Bank, Ritzville Ministerial Association, Big Bend Bowling Center or the charity of your choice.
