RENTON, Wash. — Seattle Seahawks center Max Unger and defensive end Red Bryant did not participate in practice Wednesday as each went through the mandated concussion protocol after being injured last week against Tampa Bay. Seattle coach Pete Carroll said it was too early to determine the status of either player for Sunday’s game at Atlanta. Unger has already missed two games earlier this season with an arm injury. “Every day is a new day on this thing. We’ll see if they can make it back,” Carroll said. “Both of them are really determined to do it if possible, but we got to do this right.” The return of wide receiver Percy Harvin after hip surgery also remains unknown, although Carroll said Wednesday he’s confident Harvin will play this season. Harvin must be added to the active roster by next Tuesday or he would have to spend the rest of the season on the physically unable to perform list. Carroll said Harvin went through an extensive workout on Wednesday morning, but gave no indication on any practice time for Harvin this week. “I think it’s just a matter of time,” Carroll said. “We feel confident that the surgery went very well. He’s working diligently to get it done, we just have to do it right because we want him to finish the season with us and not have this be an issue. The tendency for him in particular is that he’s such a tremendous competitor, he’s dying to get back, and we’re just trying to make sure that we really can secure the return and make it a great one.” Both starting offensive tackles, Russell Okung and Breno Giacomini, have returned to practice, although Week 11 against Minnesota seems the likely target date to see both back on the field. Okung is not eligible to return until the Vikings game, while Giacomini was limited in practice on Wednesday, his first practice since before Week 3 against Jacksonville.
