Great Northern League co-champions East Valley and Pullman qualified for the District 7 2A championship by registering home wins on Wednesday.
Senior Elisha Allred had 19 kills and junior Emily Sior added 41 assists as EV outlasted Colville 22-25, 25-21, 25-19, 17-25, 17-15. Senior Aubrey Buckner led the Indians with 19 kills, and senior Chantel Nussbaum added four aces and four blocks.
Seniors Katie Travis and Tori Berdichevskaya had 10 kills apiece in Pullman’s 3-0 sweep of Cheney. Senior Ashley Seiler had 10 kills for the Blackhawks (18-11).
Seiler also had 19 kills as Cheney began the day with a 3-0 sweep that eliminated Deer Park. Buckner had 16 kills in Colville’s 3-0 win that knocked out Clarkston
Pullman (15-10) and EV (15-8) will play at 3 p.m. Saturday at EV for a state berth.
Cheney and Colville will meet at 5 in a loser-out. The winner will play the Pullman-EV loser at 7 for the second state berth.
• District 9 1B: Two-time defending state champion Tekoa-Oakesdale and Pomeroy advanced to the title match with wins at Clarkston. Senior Cassandra Mendoza had 20 kills, senior Alexa Lindgren 28 assists and junior Olivia Pakootas 10 aces as T-O topped St. John-Endicott 3-1. The Nighthawks will play for a state berth at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Clarkston against Pomeroy, which swept Colton 3-0. Loser-out games at 2 will be Garfield-Palouse against Colton and SJE against Touchet.
