Obituary: Calvert, Vera Mae

CALVERT, Vera Mae (Age 85) Passed away peacefully on November 2, 2013 at her home in Kennewick Washington.

Vera was born September 21, 1928 to Effie and John Wilson in Oklahoma City.

Vera married Jack Calvert in 1948 and they remained happy together for 62 years until Jack’s death in 2003.

Vera was preceded in death by her oldest son Robert Calvert of Spokane, Washington.

Vera and Jack traveled often for Jack’s job as an Iron Worker living in Pakistan, New Guinea, Indonesia, Mexico, and all over the Pacific Northwest.

Together they raised four children and settled down in Spokane Washington in 1979.

Vera enjoyed her time as a mother and homemaker and for a short time as a deputy sheriff in Idaho.

Vera enjoyed traveling, playing cards, gardening, reading books, antiquing, and shopping.

Her most favorite pass time was spending time with her family and friends, telling stories of all her life experiences.

She was a loyal and loving friend, mother, sister and grandmother.

Vera was adventurous, spontaneous, had a keen sense of humor and lived each day to the fullest.

Vera was always available to her family and a constant in their lives.

Vera is survived by her daughter Vicki and David Kile of Kennewick, WA and her two sons Tom Calvert of Pasco, WA and Jack and Maryann Calvert of Selah, WA.

Vera leaves behind 12 grand- children, 11 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is also survived by her brother John and Olga Wilson of Reno, Nevada and her sister Mary Stezaker of Las Vegas, Nevada.

A Celebration of Life will be held in her honor Friday, November 8, 2pm, at the Chapel of the Falls, 314.

W. First Ave., in Kennewick, WA.
