Drunken driver arrested after crashing into Coeur d’Alene home

Three people, including a 10-year-old girl, suffered serious injuries after a drunk driver crashed into their Coeur d’Alene home Thursday night. Coeur d’Alene police arrested Thomas S. Heinbaugh, 27, on Thursday on suspicion of aggravated driving under the influence and leaving the scene of an injury accident after he crashed his truck into a home at 421 E. Hattie Ave at 6:13 p.m., according to a news release. Police said Heinbaugh crashed his truck into the front of the home, coming to a stop with his truck entirely inside the house. Heinbaugh fled the scene and was located by officers on Government Way and Anton Avenue. Sherri Bloom, 30, was trapped under furniture and a door. She is in fair condition at Kootenai Health. Jeffrey Groat, 35, was trapped underneath the back of the truck. He is in good condition at Kootenai Health. The identity and status 10-year-old girl who was with them is not available.
