In brief: Briefs: Fire District 8 chooses Rorie for vacant commissioner seat

SPOKANE COUNTY – Spokane County Fire District 8, which serves the area south of Spokane and Spokane Valley city limits, has chosen Andy Rorie to serve as a fire commissioner. Rorie will replace Dennis Ross, who recently resigned his seat and moved out of the area.

Rorie has lived within the district’s boundaries for the last 10 years. He currently works as a battalion chief with the Spokane Valley Fire Department.

Spaghetti feed, auction will benefit Mitey Mites

LIBERTY LAKE – A spaghetti feed and silent auction fundraiser is set for 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. next Saturday at the Newman Lake Grange Hall, 25025 E. Heather Lane. The 21-and-older event will also include live music and drinks. Items up for bid include Coeur d’Alene hotel packages, a Nook HD, Seahawks gear and more.

The fundraiser will benefit the Liberty Lake Lions Mitey Mites, a Pop Warner football team that has been selected to play in the Mitey Mite Bowl in Orlando, Fla., in December. The dinner is $20, which does not include drinks.
