Cause unknown: Spokane Fire Department firefighters work to extinguish a house fire that displaced a woman and five children at 3104 E. Bridgeport Ave. in northeast Spokane on Saturday morning. At 9:55 a.m., firefighters responded to a call regarding the single-story wood home. Firefighters were able to confine the blaze to the home, preventing it from spreading to surrounding buildings, a department news release said. No one was found inside, and no firefighters were hurt. There was extensive fire damage to the kitchen and living room and smoke damage throughout the rest of the home, according to the release. The cause of the fire was unknown. The Red Cross was called to help the woman and the children with clothing and shelter.
