Obituary: Campasino, James W.
Dad was born in Warren County, Pennsylvania, one of nine boys to Frank and Alma.
He graduated from Sheffield High School and enlisted in the US Army/Air Force during WW II.
He served his country for 25 years, retiring from Fairchild Air Force Base.
He spent the next 18 years working for the US Postal Service, becoming everyone’s favorite mailman in the Westview neighborhood.
Dad’s passion in life was golf.
He picked up the game in his late 30’s while stationed on Guam, and quickly became a single digit handicap.
He competed for years in Spokane amateur golf tournaments as an individual and with his son Jim, as ‘Best Ball” partners.
Those were the best of times.
During his retirement years, he was a regular at Sundance Golf Course.
The 10:52 am.
group of Jim, Greg, Tony and Bob was a fixture.
He shot his age numerous times.
He was quietly a fierce competitor and was always a gentleman.
Grandpa was so involved in helping with the grandsons, Jared and Adam.
He did have to be scolded sometimes for allowing them to eat ice cream and popcorn for breakfast prior to dropping them off at school.
He was so incredibly proud of all of his grandkids and his latter days were always brightened after talking with them.
Our Grandpa will be loved and missed forever.
He was predeceased by his wife Kathryn in 1982, his parents and six of his eight brothers.
He is survived by his kids; Jim and Janelle Campasino, Scott and Celesta Wilson and James Jr. and Mary Campasino; his grand children, Jared Campasino, Adam Campasino and Danielle Wilson.
Important in his life were also Janelle’s parents; Bill and Ingrid Anderson, long-time friend; Vicki Littell and many other friends.
We appreciate the compassion and care provided by the staffs at Wind River Assisted Living and Avalon Skilled Nursing for the last few months of his life.
A Life Celebration will be held on November 29, 2013 at 2:00 pm.
at the Sunset Mausoleum, Fairmount Memorial Park.
