David Sullivan was a young doctor aboard the USS Card, a “baby flattop” aircraft carrier in two different theaters of World War II.


A German U-boat founders and begins to sink as its crew casts off in lifeboats. The sub was hit by a depth charge from a plane from the USS Card. Sullivan was on board.
