“DOCTOR WHO: THE DAY OF THE DOCTOR” – Who knew? On Nov. 23, 1963, TV viewers in the UK were introduced to a strange alien flying through space and time in a box called the TARDIS, and a sci-fi icon was born. Fifty years later, fans will gather across the globe to celebrate the show’s golden anniversary with this simulcast special that has the Doctor’s past coming back to haunt him. Matt Smith and David Tennant star. 2:50 p.m. Saturday, BBC America. (Note: The special will re-air at 7 p.m.).
