Limit union control

The citizens of Spokane are constantly complaining about:

• Firemen making over $100,000 a year and not being fired for breaking rules or laws while still having much greater benefits and retirement plans than average citizens.

• Policemen not being fired for breaking rules or laws while still having much greater benefits and retirement plans than average citizens.

• Public union employees not being held accountable for mistakes or performance, and still having much greater salary, benefits and retirement plans than average citizens.

• Property and sales taxes as well as many other fees and charges constantly being required or increased to pay for the overpaid and underperforming bureaucracy.

If the voters continue to elect candidates who are supported by the public employee unions, does anyone really think things will change? If the public employee unions support and finance a candidate, how do you think that person will vote on an issue that affects the unions?

Of course, taking the other view, if not for the unions the city employees would probably be working for minimum wage (or less). There has to be a better balance, but having union-controlled elected officials does not appear to be in the best interest of the taxpayer.
