Obituary: Jacobsen, Foy Mason

Age 89

JACOBSEN, Foy Mason Foy Mason Jacobsen was born on January 28, 1924, at the home on the family farm near Froid, Montana.

He was the fifth of eight children born to Bernhardt and Amelia Meeks Jacobsen.

Foy attended school at Froid and graduated from Froid High School in 1942.

Foy’s parents and younger siblings moved to Spokane, Washington, in the fall of 1943.

Foy stayed on the farm through that winter, and then moved to Spokane in 1944.

In 1946, he was involved in an industrial accident which resulted in full disability the rest of his life.

He continued to live in the Spokane area until 1990, when he moved to Vern and Charlene Johnson’s Care Home in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

Foy received wonderful care at Johnson’s, and the family appreciates all they did for him.

Foy enjoyed making scrapbooks.

He also enjoyed walking and exercising.

Whatever Foy did, he did with zeal.

He enjoyed life!

But the most important part and the most enjoyable part of life to him was his relationship with God.

This year in March, Foy was moved to Newberg, Oregon, where he was a resident at the Marquis - Newberg Rehab Center.

Foy was later moved to a foster care home in Tualitan, Oregon, where he passed away on November 11, 2013.

Foy was the fifth of eight children born into the Jacobsen family, and he is also the fifth of his siblings to pass away.

Foy was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Clarence, Ruvold, Derold, and Lloyd; sisters-in law Maxine, Phyllis, Josie, and Lorraine; a niece Joan Lee, and a nephew Brad Jacobsen.

Foy leaves behind his sister, Irene and Duncan Hunter; and two brothers, Everett and Jane Jacobsen and Lee and Lela Jacobsen; 20 nieces and nephews; many grandnieces and nephews, and a host of friends.

A Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 21, 2013 from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Hazen & Jaeger Funeral Home, 1306 N. Monroe St., Spokane, WA with funeral services following on Friday, November 22, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. in the funeral home’s Alwin Chapel with graveside committal services at 2:00 P.M. at Fairmount Memorial Park, 5200 W. Wellesley Avenue, Spokane.
