Obituary: Johnson, Lois Syvilla (Hofmann)

Age 96

JOHNSON, Lois Syvilla (Hofmann) 1917 - 2013 After a short convalescence Lois went to join her Lord on November 13, 2013.

She was born November 8, 1917 in Oakesdale, WA.

Her parents, Rudolph and Elsie Hofmann, were farmers and when she was a year old they moved their family to their farm land in Plaza, WA where she grew up.

She loved music and played the violin, cello, saxophone, trumpet, organ and piano at church and dances.

She loved to dance.

On October 16, 1939, she married Lyle Johnson, the love of her life, and moved to Spokane.

They enjoyed 55 years of marriage and had three children.

He preceded her in death on August 23, 1994.

She loved being a homemaker and raising their children.

They loved to travel and visited every state in the United States.

They also spent three months touring Europe as well as traveled to the Orient, Indonesia and Hong Kong.

They were active members of Knox Presbyterian Church where she played the organ and piano and taught Sunday school from kindergarten through junior high.

They lived in the home they built on 54th for over 50 years where she indulged in her love of flowers and her bountiful garden.

Lois loved to entertain and she taught music out of the home for over 45 years.

Six years ago she moved to Harvard Park Retirement where she enjoyed the activities and company of many friends for four years and then to Emeritus for the last two years.

She is survived by their three children Gary (Sue) Johnson, Scottsdale, AZ, Steve (Anita) Johnson, Spokane, Sharlene Bozanich, Spokane; seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at Knox Presbyterian Church at 11:00 am on November 21st.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Knox Presbyterian Church (806 W. Knox Ave).
