People: Bartiromo, CNBC are parting ways

From Wire Reports

CNBC says veteran anchor and reporter Maria Bartiromo is leaving the business news channel.

Bartiromo’s contract ends Nov. 24, concluding 20 years with CNBC, the channel said Monday.

The New York Times and others reported Bartiromo is joining Fox Business Network. The Fox network said it had no immediate announcement to make Monday.

The Drudge Report was first to report Bartiromo’s move.

“After twenty great years of having a front row seat to some of the most important economic stories in the world, it’s hard to sum up the gratitude and appreciation I have for the team that helped make it happen,” Bartiromo said in a statement. “I am incredibly proud of what we have been able to accomplish.”

Her high-profile work at CNBC and photogenic looks earned her the nickname “Money Honey.”

Bartiromo anchors CNBC’s “Closing Bell with Maria Bartiromo” and the syndicated “On the Money with Maria Bartiromo.”

Emerson will honor pseudo newsman

It’s kind of a big deal that Emerson College is changing the name of its school of communication.

The college in Boston will rename the school – for one day only – the Ron Burgundy School of Communication on Dec. 4 to honor the fictitious television anchorman.

Actor Will Ferrell, in character, is scheduled to share his path to journalism greatness with students. His visit will include a news conference, the renaming ceremony and a screening of “Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues.” Ferrell, as himself, will introduce the movie.

Burgundy, known for telling people he’s “kind of a big deal,” says he hopes to let students know how hard it is to make it to the top, in his words, “especially if you don’t have good hair.”

‘Housewives’ stars face new charges

Two stars of “The Real Housewives of New Jersey” are now facing additional fraud charges.

Giuseppe “Joe” Giudice and Teresa Giudice were indicted Monday on one count of bank fraud and one count of loan application fraud.

Authorities allege Teresa Giudice lied about having a job and a $15,000 monthly salary on a loan application.

The couple was indicted in July on 39 counts, including bank fraud, making false statements on loan applications and bankruptcy fraud. Giuseppe Giudice was also charged with failing to file tax returns from 2004 to 2008.
