Obituary: Schlepp, Albert William

Age 84

SCHLEPP, Albert William March 25, 1929 - November 13, 2013 Passed away November 13th 2013.

Surrounded by his wife and children.

He was born in Miles city Montana on March 25th 1929.

He was born to parents Karl and Karoline Geohring Schlepp.

Al grew up in Pure water (Watson Flats); on the family farm, where he was one of 18 children.

After attending MT High School in Miles city he served in the United States Air force, during the Korean War.

He was in the 92nd Periodic Maintenance Squadron and was also a B-52 mechanic.

His final posting was at Fairchild Airforce Base, In the evenings he worked at Stateline Gardens with three of his buddies, Thats where he met his wife of 60 years Pauline (Martin) Schlepp.

Al and Pauline then settled in Hayden Lake in 1953 and raising their family of five.

Al owned and operated Union 76 Service Stations in the area for 25 years.

In the early 70’s he went to work in construction for Empire Concrete and then with Jim Hedberg of KC Construction.

Al then continued working until recently as a Heavy Duty mechanic at the age of 84.

Al had many hobbies which included vegetable gardening and feeding the birds in his backyard.

AL also had a love for working on cars; racing in the early 60’s and then helping his two son’s with there own cars, hot rod’s and drag racing.

He was most happy when his family was all together, at family gatherings and on holidays.

Survived by his wife Polly; Twin daughters Kathy (Tom) Tuttle, Seattle, WA., and Donna (Jim) Chinneck, Victoria, B.C.

; Youngest daughter Michelle (Dave) Newton, Hayden, Lake ID; Son’s Steve (Pam) Schlepp, Hayden Lake, ID, Ronnie Schlepp, Hayden Lake, ID., and Wayne “The other brother”; Grandchildren Amy, Jeremy, Barbie, Nicholes, Doug, Kathy, Katie, Justin and Billy; Great-Grandchildren Cassius, Audry(deceased), Antaya, Audrianna, and A.J.

Al’s Surviving brothers and sisters are Burt (Jim) Fredrickson, Wolf point, MT., Gus (Caroline) Schlepp, Lake Sammich, WA., Betty Olson, Tacoma, WA., Herb (Janice) Mead, Washington.

Memorial service for Albert will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday November 21, 2013, at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 1700 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Coeur d’Alene, ID.

A reception will follow the service at the church.

Al will be deeply missed by everyone, And as Al would say, “I thank you”.
