Fresh Sheet: Total Wine to open in Spokane Valley

A second Spokane-area Total Wine & More store is scheduled to open Thursday near the Spokane Valley Mall.

Special events, including tastings, take place through Sunday for the grand opening. A ribbon-cutting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday.

Like its sister store in north Spokane, the new location features a growler filling station and 13,500 wines, spirits and beers, including more than 1,500 Washington wines, 80 Washington and Oregon distilled spirits and 550 Pacific Northwest beers.

Total Wine & More operates 96 stores in 15 states. The new Spokane Valley store is at 13802 E. Indiana Ave. It will be open daily from 9 a.m.-10 p.m.

Thanksgiving Tuesday

You don’t have to wait until next Thursday for turkey. Orlando’s, the student-run restaurant at Spokane Community College, is holding its Thanksgiving meal on Tuesday.

Four seating times – 11 and 11:30 a.m., noon and 12:30 p.m. – are available. The price is $14 per person and includes a choice of ham or turkey and trimmings.

Diners must pre-pay to reserve a spot. The restaurant is in Building 1 on the SCC campus at 1810 N. Greene St. For more information or to make a reservation, call Janet Breedlove at (509) 533-7283.

All-you-can-eat spaghetti

“Everything you see, I owe to spaghetti,” Italian actress Sophia Loren once said.

The noodles take center stage Sunday from noon-6 p.m. at the American Italian Club’s 45th Annual Spaghetti Dinner at Gonzaga Preparatory School, 1224 E. Euclid Ave. The event includes a bake sale of Italian cookies and desserts.

The cost is $9 for those 13 and older, $5 for children 7 to 12. Children 6 and younger eat for free. For more information, call (509) 467-6389.

Holiday Wine Festival

More than two dozen Spokane-area wineries will be sharing new releases, discounts on select wines and, of course, wine tastings at the annual Holiday Wine Festival this weekend.

The event, sponsored by the Spokane Winery Association, takes place from noon-5 p.m. Friday through Sunday. Tasting fees may apply.
