Promises broken

“If you like your plan, you can keep it” was only part of the promise. The other was an “average savings of $2,500 a year per family.” Now, I know that there are those who believe there is at least that much ill-gotten gains that the insurance companies are ripping us off for.

The truth is the insurance companies have to prove the need for their rates each time they are filed. The net profit for them (as well as oil companies, by the way) is less than that of most small businesses.

Yes, the numbers are huge: Health care is one-sixth of our economy. Check this math out: Add millions of users who will pay little or nothing for their coverage, uncapped lifetime limits, allow access to everyone regardless of their health and the price is going to go down? I’m all for no pre-existing conditions and universal access, but it will make the cost of coverage explode, not diminish.

Don’t be in too much of a hurry to get on the website. Once you get there, that will really blow your mind.
