Hikers discover body in Spokane River near John C. Shields Park

Spokane County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a dead body floating in the Spokane River on Upriver Drive on Friday. There are no obvious signs of foul play at this time.

Two hikers, Dale and Tami Kramer, were walking in the area when they saw the male, floating face down.

“It’s freaky,” Dale Kramer said.

The Kramers reported the body to the sheriff’s office. Deputies removed the male from the river. The Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the cause and manner of death, but Deputy Craig Chamberlin said there are no obvious signs of trauma.
