“The Wolverine” star Hugh Jackman revealed he has been treated for skin cancer and shared a selfie showing his bandaged nose. “Deb said to get the mark on my nose checked. Boy, was she right!” he wrote on Instagram, referring to his wife, Deborra-Lee Furness.

The 45-year-old Australian actor said he had a basal cell carcinoma, a common form of skin cancer that is rarely fatal. The note he posted Friday didn’t say when his medical treatment took place.

“Please don’t be foolish like me. Get yourself checked. And USE sunscreen!!!” he wrote.

Australia has the highest skin cancer rate in the world, and two in three Australians will be diagnosed before age 70, according to the national health department.

Couric may be heading to Yahoo!

Katie Couric’s next move appears to be online. An ABC News executive who requested anonymity because talks aren’t complete said Friday that the veteran news anchor has an opportunity at Yahoo! that is too good to pass up.

Couric has been working at ABC News, but published reports have said that Yahoo! is seeking her to host an interview show to be aired on the company’s website.

A spokesman for Couric declined comment on Friday.

Couric is in her second season on an ABC daytime talk show, which is not expected to be renewed.

Elwes to share ‘Bride’ memories

More than 25 years later, Cary Elwes still has the fondest memories of starring in “The Princess Bride.”

The actor has a deal with Touchstone, an imprint of Simon & Schuster, for a memoir about the beloved fairy tale. The book is called “As You Wish: Tales from the Princess Bride.” Touchstone announced Friday that it has scheduled publication for fall 2014.

Rob Reiner, who directed “The Princess Bride,” is contributing a foreword. The book, to be co-written by Joe Layden, also will include interviews with Billy Crystal, Robin Wright and other cast members from the 1987 production. Elwes and Wright starred as the lovers Westley and Buttercup.

Elwes’ other film credits include “Days of Thunder” and “Bram Stoker’s Dracula.”
