Obituary: Opsal, Don

OPSAL, Don (Age 61) Of Spokane, WA, passed away peacefully in his home on Monday, November 18, 2013.

While Don was born and raised in Spokane, WA, he traveled the world during his faithful service in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.

Don was a compassionate man who dedicated his life to the well-being of others.

He awoke every day excited to go to work at Lakeland Village, where he helped countless people with developmental disabilities live better lives.

Don loved to play guitar, which allowed him to express both his natural musical ability and his creative, artistic spirit.

If you ever needed to find him on a hot summer day, Don was probably indulging in another of his great passions, sailing on Lake Pend Oreille.

Don’s kindness and warmth naturally drew people to him, which is why everyone who knew Don considered him a friend.

He is survived by his son, Marc; his four sisters: Carla, Carol, Donna, and Lynn; his brother, Ron; and his many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at the Washington State Veterans Cemetery at 9:45 AM on Monday, November 25, 2013.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hazen & Jaeger Funeral Home.
