Obituary: Upchurch-Manolis, Elberta V.

Age 95

UPCHURCH-MANOLIS, Elberta V. (Age 95) Passed away November 17, 2013.

She was born Sept. 11, 1918 in Atchison, KS to Herbert and Christina Sowers.

She graduated from Atchison High School in the class of 1936.

Elberta was a member of the Elks Lodge #2328 Spokane Valley and past president of Ladies of Elks in 1998; member of Ladies of Sadir Khan Grotto; Eagles Auxiliary of Spokane Valley president in 2006; former volunteer at Valley Hospital; Morse Code Club; Past Matron of Audubon Chapter #214 Easter Star; member of Magnolia Chapter #194 Eastern Star; 63 year plus member of OES, initiated in 1951and was active in all things her children belonged to - Cub Scouts, DeMolay, Rainbow Girls and PTA.

She enjoyed many friends, loved to laugh, loved her family and doing things with them and her neighbors were special and loved.

Elberta was married and widowed twice, her first husband Eldon Upchurch passed in 1963 after 26 years and her second to Andin Manolis in 2000 after 11 years of marriage; she was also preceded in death by a son Eldon Richard Upchurch in 1946.

She is survived by her sons Thomas David, Larry Robert and Herbert Arthur Upchurch; a daughter Cynthia Ann Courville; step-children Ruby Manolis Adams and Penelope Manolis Clemons; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held 2-4PM Friday, December 6, 2013 at Spokane Valley Elk’s Lodge, 2605 N. Robie Road.

In lieu of flowers and cards memorial contributions may be made to Spokane Guild School or the Shriners Hospital for Children.
