Obituary: Kanzler, Lawrence “Larry”

Age 92

KANZLER, Lawrence “Larry” (Age 92) Peacefully passed away November 25, 2013.

He was born to John and Anna Kanzler, March 15, 1921 in Ritzville, WA.

He was Baptized and Confirmed at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Ritzville.

He graduated from Ritzville High School and married his high school sweetheart, Margaret “Marge”, September 26, 1941.

They moved to Spokane after their only child, Virginia “Ginny” was born.

His career started working with his dad as a painter and carpenter in Ritzville.

A few months after moving to Spokane, they moved to a farm in Colbert, WA., were they worked and resided for 65 years.

A few years prior to his retirement, he returned to building and remodeling homes.

Larry and Marge both enjoyed square dancing, road trips, camping, boating and fishing.

Their afternoon road trips often took longer than planned because he and Marge were both open to checking out new roads, just to see where they went.

He still got a kick out of a ride with a driver who didn’t always know exactly where a road would take them until just a few weeks before his passing.

Larry is survived by his daughter, Ginny; grandson, Larry Gibson, (Lori); granddaughter, Shelly Brinlee (Gary); four great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; one sister; wife; and one granddaughter.

The family greatly appreciates the loving care and kindness provided by the staff and management of both Royal Plaza Assisted Living and Royal Park Care Center.

Larry often stated, “They take such good care of me”, of both facilities.

A graveside service will be held at Fairmount Memorial Park, Saturday, November 30 at 2pm.
