BRRC Turkey Trot Fun Run - Sponsored by the Bloomsday Road Runners Club. Race starts at 9 a.m. No registration required, just sign a waiver. Runners and walkers have the options of 2-, 3- or 5-mile routes. No entry fee, but cash and food donations strongly encouraged to benefit Second Harvest Food Bank. No pets on course with runners. Santa Express - Through Dec. 23. Children ages 4-12 can find gifts ranging from 50 cents to $8 for everyone on their shopping list. Volunteer elves are on hand to help the children select and wrap their gifts, with the net proceeds going to benefit the Vanessa Behan Crisis Nursery. Adults can shop while they wait at Vanessa’s Village, a boutique of reasonably-priced, specialty items. “The Christmas Toy Shop” - Through Dec. 15. Presented by Spokane Children’s Theatre. Come and see a Christmas play for the whole family. In a quiet town, a mysterious man and his funny looking assistant arrive in search of an empty store. With luck they find what they need and set to work. Suddenly the store is transformed into a toy shop, immediately capturing the attention of the town folk. It becomes obvious that this is no ordinary toy shop, and a secret is revealed. Shows are Fridays-Sundays. Shows at 7 p.m. are Dec. 6 and 13. Shows at 1 p.m. are Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 7-8 and 14-15. Shows at 4 p.m. are Friday, Dec. 7 and 14.
