CV School Board sets 2014 levy amount

The Central Valley School Board voted unanimously Monday to approve the amount of levy funds to be collected in 2014.

The district will collect $22.9 million from property taxes this year. In February 2012, voters approved a levy for up to $27.1 million. When the levy was passed, the state was threatening to cut levy equalization funds. The district promised not to collect the full amount from taxpayers if state funds remained available.

Taxpayers in the Central Valley district can expect to pay $3.55 per $1,000 of assessed property value in 2014, a decrease of about 11 cents from the 2013 levy tax rate.
