Liberty Lake Blotter: Confused neighbor enters wrong car

A resident in the 24000 block of East Broadway Court called Liberty Lake Police the afternoon of Nov. 21 to report that a neighbor had gotten inside her unlocked car. When confronted, the woman appeared to be confused and said she thought the car belonged to a friend and she was trying to retrieve her cellphone charger, said Police Chief Brian Asmus.

The neighbor later sent a Facebook message apologizing for getting in the car, Asmus said. A family member reported that she had been on her way home from the dentist’s office.

An officer assisted the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office with a call at Otis Orchards Elementary on Nov. 22. An employee reported that a parent who appeared to be intoxicated was attempting to pick up a student. The parent was taken to a local detox facility and the child was placed in temporary state custody, Asmus said.
