Obituary: Krauss, Gladys Irene (Carlson)
KRAUSS, Gladys Irene (Carlson) Gladys Irene Krauss, youngest daughter of Gus and Anne Carlson, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed from this world into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on September 28, 2013. Gladys was born in Tower, Minnesota on May 18, 1924, where she spent her childhood and worked as a Practical Nurse. She was the youngest of six children. She moved to Spokane to be with her sister and she then met her husband-to-be Jacob John Krauss. Jake and Gladys married and built a home on the South Hill where they raised four children. They often hosted summer poolside barbecues for family and friends swimming at ‘Jake’s Lake’. Family reunions, family vacations and visits to the Oregon Coast were some of her favorite things. Gladys was a devoted homemaker. She was always helping neighbors and sharing her faith in Christ and inviting them to Church. She was a faithful prayer warrior and enjoyed reading her Bible, Christian books and watching Christian television programs. Over the years she taught Sunday School and held Five-Day Clubs at their home. She was always looking for Jesus’ return in the clouds but He chose instead to bring Gladys to Himself. She is survived by her husband Jake of 62 years, son Dan (Debbie) Krauss, daughter Judy (Mark) Bell, son Chuck (Loraine) Krauss, grandchildren Misty (Chris) Cox, Tim (Marianne) Krauss, Eric (Allyson) Bell, Cory Moore, Brandee (Derek) Maier, Kellen Krauss, BJ Bell (fiancĂŠe Kara Heatherly), Tyann Krauss (fiancĂŠ Kory Gausen)and 14 great-grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, son Doug, and her five siblings. Memorial Service will be held Sunday, October 6, 2013, at 2PM at Fourth Memorial Church where Gladys and Jake have been members for over 55 years. Final arrangements are being made by Hennessey Smith Funeral, Home North Division where viewing will be on Saturday, October 5th from 12 noon to 4PM. Graveside gathering at Greenwood Memorial Terrace on Monday, October 7th at 1PM. The family extends their thanks to the staff at Riverview Retirement Community, and her personal caregivers throughout the last years of her life, and Horizon Hospice in her final days.
