Obituary: Matles, Joyce
Age 67
Joyce Matles, age 67, of Spokane, Wa and recently Chicago Il, passed away after a hard fought battle with cancer.
Joyce was born August 21, 1946 in Bronx, NY to Morris and Florence Brand.
She was a graduate of City College of New York, where she met and married the love of her life, partner, and best friend Ron Matles on August 15th, 1968.
Joyce was a teacher, adult educator, and for the last 25 years, one of Spokane’s top producing real estate agents.
She was an avid philanthropist and active member in the Spokane community holding a myriad of leadership positions on many fronts, including Temple Beth Shalom, the Spokane Symphony, and Board of Realtors.
Joyce touched so many people during her life from students to community members to people she helped find or sell their home.
She was the epitome of an over achiever in everything she did and lived life to the fullest.
Above all, she was dedicated to her family and friends.
Joyce is survived by her sister and three loving sons: sister Arlene Brand (Queens, NY), son and daughter-in-law Robert and Lauren (Chicago, IL), son Harley (Emerald Hills, CA), son and daughter-in-law Michael and Amee (San Francisco, CA); and her four grandchildren Jake, Jordyn, Julian, and Nicole who she loved more than anything else.
Her family and friends will miss Joyce’s love, friendship, happiness, kindness, support, and wonderful sense of humor.
Graveside Services will be held at 1pm, Thursday, October 3rd at Mount Nebo Cemetery on Government Way in Spokane, Washington.
