Obituary: Sederstrom, Jon Noel
He is survived by his children Meagan and Blake Sederstrom both of Spokane.
His stepchildren Nick, Breanna and Jesse Rizzuto also of Spokane, and his young precious grandbabies Satara and Saraya.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother Dr. Leslie and Helen Sederstrom.
Jon was born in Yokosuka, Japan the middle son in a career Navy family of eight children - Joe Sederstrom, Ewa (Colorado Springs, CO), Paul Sederstrom (Spokane, WA) Sallie Hamilton, Marc (Spokane, WA), Mary Smith, Grant (Rossland, BC), Erik Sederstrom, Liz (Spokane, WA), Marcie Sederstrom (Queen Creek, AZ) and Julie French, Kevin (Spokane, WA).
The Sederstrom Family, after many years of travel, finally Settled in Spokane in 1964 on Altamont Blvd.
where Jon spent the remainder of his early years.
Jon attended Franklin Elementary, Gonzaga Prep HS, and graduated from Joel E. Ferris HS Class of 1976.
Jon’s long career at Kaiser began at age 18 in 1976 until his subsequent retirement in 2002.
Jon was proud of his service at Kaiser.
He began on the pot lines and steadily advanced from cell operator, to equipment operator to overhead crane operator.
Jon was instrumental in the design of a mechanical jackhammer used to reduce risk and injuries to many employees.
In 1988 Jon was in a group of six people selected to find new markets for Kaiser product.
Through tireless “self-education” Jon had traded steel toed boots and jeans to the suit and tie of management and sales.
Jon’s easy going yet focused personality allowed him to work well with union workers on the shop floor as well as members on management staff.
Following his 26 year career with Kaiser, Jon signed on at a young but growing company in Dallas, TX C-Koe Metals, L.P. Jon assumed the role as head of national sales until retiring August, 30, 2013.
C-Koe felt like a second family to Jon and on a daily basis he and Becky referred to themselves as C-Koe North.
Family was always important to Jon.
He truly adored and was proud of his Meagan and Blake.
Sharing his knowledge lending a helping hand when needed, let alone anyone else that might need a helping hand.
Friends and family were always around, whether it be a simple bbq, a bonfire or a large celebration.
You were always greeted with open arms.
Jon carried a passion for all things he loved to do whether it was learning a new hobby, building and remodeling anything, or scavenging Craig’s List and garage sales to furnish his elaborate and beloved man cave.
He loved camping, boating, cars, travel, and reading.
He was always expanding his knowledge base and enjoyed “fixing stuff”.
He did it all with a list or a spreadsheet in hand to work out every fine detail.
Calling a repairman was not in his repertoire.
This was our Jon enjoying everyday to the fullest with a huge smile on his face.
When something didn’t workout, he would simply state his motto.
“It is what it is” He had a big heart, a big personality and a great sense of humor.
He initiated many a practical joke and kept those around him smiling.
Jon was the glue that held the brothers together after the death of his father-officiating over many a Judge Judy verdict in his beloved man-cave.
He will be sorely missed in this life but holding the door open for the rest of us in the next.
The Family would like to thank The CCNW family and Hospice of Spokane for helping our Jon in his last year.
A memorial service will be held at the Salvation Army Chapel (222 E. Indiana), Saturday, October 5, 2013 at 2:00 p.m.
