Unbeaten Panthers sweep Bullpups

The Mead volleyball team stayed undefeated in the Greater Spokane League with a sweep of Gonzaga Prep Tuesday night at Mead.

Scores were 25-17, 25-22 and 25-9.

Emily Herbster and Kristina Volz had eight kills apiece to guide the Panthers (4-1, 3-0). Hannah Absalonson had 16 assists and Payton Douglass added 24 digs for Mead.

Gonzaga Prep (5-4, 1-2) was led by Sara Mackin, who had 21 assists, 15 digs and an ace.

Central Valley def. Lewis and Clark: RaSasha Montgomery had 10 kills and Meghan Rockwood dished out 28 assists to power the Bears (5-1, 3-0) to a 25-21, 25-15, 25-17 GSL win over the visiting Tigers (4-4, 0-3).

Shadle Park def. Mt. Spokane: The Highlanders survived a tight first set and swept the visiting Wildcats 26-24, 25-13, 25-19 in a GSL match. Madeline Ritter had eight kills and Maggie Jarvis added five kills and four blocks for Shadle Park (5-2, 2-1). Paiton Larson had 25 assists and three aces for Mt. Spokane (2-4, 0-3).

University def. Rogers: Brooklynn Tacke had eight kills and Kylie Collins added 16 assists and four aces as the Titans (6-1, 3-0) eased past the Pirates 25-15, 25-13, 25-15 in a GSL match at Rogers (2-5, 1-2).

Ferris def. North Central: Summer Reid had 10 kills, three aces and two blocks and the Saxons (2-5, 2-1) cruised to a sweep of the visiting Indians (0-7, 0-3) in a GSL match. Scores were 25-15, 25-14 and 25-20. NC’s Malia Conant had 12 assists and two aces.

• The Linda Sheridan Volleyball Classic starts Friday at four locations. Many area teams, including all GSL schools, will be participating.

Bonners Ferry def. Timberlake: Emma Kelly had 25 assists and four aces and Desirae Minor added 21 digs to lead the Badgers (4-3, 2-2) to an Intermountain League win over the visiting Tigers (0-6, 0-4). Scores were 25-10, 17-25, 26-24 and 25-23.

Deer Park def. East Valley: Sierra English had 24 kills and Zoey Mohr added 41 assists as the Stags (3-3, 2-3) swept the Knights (3-4, 3-2) 25-23, 27-25, 25-17 in Deer Park.

Pullman def. Cheney: Katie Travis had eight kills and five blocks to guide the Greyhounds (3-5, 3-2) to a 25-15, 25-20, 25-22 GNL win over the visiting Blackhawks (5-2, 4-1). Cheney’s Ashley Seiler tallied a match-high 18 kills.

Boys soccer

Coeur d’Alene 2, Lewiston 0: Devin Kohles scored twice, the first coming in the first minute, and the Vikings (6-1-3, 2-1) blanked the host Bengals (4-8, 0-5) in an Inland Empire League 5A match. Kohles scored his second goal in the 74th minute.

Girls soccer

Mt. Spokane 3, Ferris 0: Sierra Bezdicek scored twice to guide the Wildcats (5-2-1, 1-2) past the visiting Saxons (5-3, 1-2) in a Greater Spokane League match. Ashley Sanders scored Mt. Spokane’s other goal in the 67th minute off an assist from her sister, Brittney Sanders.

Lewiston 2, Coeur d’Alene 0: The Bengals (2-7, 2-3) scored twice in the second half and blanked the Vikings (2-7, 0-3) in Coeur d’Alene.

Pullman 2, Cheney 1 (2OT): Maddi Cillay scored off a rebound in the 87th minute to give the Greyhounds (5-2-1, 4-2) a Great Northern League win over the visiting Blackhawks (3-6, 2-4). Anne Mari Petrino also scored for Pullman.

East Valley 13, Deer Park 0: Skylar Bastin and Chelsea Love both recorded hat tricks to power the Knights (5-2, 5-1) past the host Stags (1-8, 0-6) in a GNL match. EV keeper Kari Bromley recorded her fourth straight shutout and also scored the Knights’ final goal.
