ESPN halts X Games in 4 cities, citing costs

ESPN has ended the X Games in four international cities because of the cost. The network said Thursday it will discontinue the competition in Munich; Barcelona, Spain; and Foz do Iguacu, Brazil. All three hosted events for the first time this summer. The Winter X Games also will end after four years in Tignes, France. ESPN says the “overall economics of these events do not provide a sustainable future path.” The network adds that it remains committed to the X Games in Aspen, Colo., and Austin, Texas – its newest host city – and will continue showing the competition internationally. – Associated Press
