Public squelched in Sprague
At the Sept. 18 Sprague City Council meeting, members passed Resolution #273 regarding the public comment policy. The resolution established that the public may only comment at the end of the council meeting during the public comment period, but at this same meeting Mayor Mike Evans stated there would be no more public comment periods during council meetings.
Thus in one City Council meeting the public has been completely silenced. Make a city policy on public comment and then eliminate the process to be heard. This is not acceptable for the government of the people to shut the people out they are elected to serve.
Come to a City Council meeting and let your voice be heard or call Sprague City Hall at (509) 257-2662 and let them know how you feel.
“The people of this state do not yield their sovereignty to the agencies that serve them. The people, in delegating authority, do not give their public servants the right to decide what is good for the people to know and what is not good for them to know. The people insist on remaining informed so that they may maintain control over the instruments that they have created.” ( RCW 42.56.030)
