Chewelah clips Kettle Falls

 Blake Owens threw for two second-half touchdowns and Chewelah edged Kettle Falls 13-12 in a Northeast A League football game Friday night in Kettle Falls.

Owens’ first touchdown pass went for 34 yards to Scott Stumps in the third quarter.

With 5 minutes to play in the fourth, Owens connected with Mason Miller for 54 yards that put Chewelah ahead.

Kettle Falls drove into Chewelah territory late in the fourth, but a holding penalty set the Bulldogs back.

They later failed on fourth down, sealing the win for Chewelah (1-4, 1-1).

Connor McKern ran for 119 yards on 25 carries and scored a TD for Kettle Falls (0-5, 0-3). Owens completed 13 of 23 passes for 161 yards and two TDs for Chewelah.

Great Northern

Pullman 63, Deer Park 27: David Ungerer had 145 yards receiving, 133 rushing, and five touchdowns for the Greyhounds (4-1, 2-0) in a rout of the visiting Stags (1-4, 0-1). Mason Petrino completed 12 of 17 passes for 324 yards and three scores for the Greyhounds.

Northeast 2B

Colfax 33, Davenport 20: Levi Hardy rushed for 121 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Bulldogs (3-1, 3-0) past the visiting Gorillas (2-3, 1-1). After a back-and-forth first half ended at 20-20, Hardy broke the game open with two second-half touchdowns.

Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 56, Northwest Christian 3: Dylan Hartz completed all five of his pass attempts, throwing for two touchdowns, as the Broncos (4-0, 2-0) overwhelmed the host Crusaders (0-3, 0-3). Connor O’Neill opened the scoring with a 9-yard touchdown catch, and followed it up with a 16-yard scoring run. The Broncos also took advantage of two defensive touchdowns as Hartz and Andrew Witt scored on 53- and 22-yard interception returns, respectively.

Liberty 44, Springdale 22: Match Burnham completed 21 of 34 passes for 301 yards and five touchdowns as the Lancers (2-3, 2-1) dumped the visiting Chargers (0-4, 0-2). Austin Sievers hauled in six catches for 106 yards and three scores.

Northeast 1B North

Inchelium-Columbia 58, Northport 14: The Timberwolves (4-1, 2-0) scored 38 points in the first quarter and didn’t turn back in a win over the visiting Mustangs (0-5, 0-3). Inchelium-Columbia’s Quentin Holford only had four carries but ran for 180 yards and two touchdowns. Six Timberwolves scored. Northport’s Ben Short rushed 18 times for 206 yards and the Mustangs’ two touchdowns.

Cusick 53, Curlew 14: The Panthers (2-2, 2-1) had touchdowns by five different players, and outscored the Cougars (0-5, 0-4) 33-0 in the second quarter en route to a victory at Cusick. Eli Peterson put Cusick up 12-0 in the first quarter with touchdown runs of 2 and 75 yards. Chance Wheaton brought Curlew back to within one score with a 9-yard touchdown run, but that was as close as the Cougars came. Spirit White scored the next two Cusick touchdowns on runs of 25 and 35 yards, and he was followed by a Chad Browneagle 48-yard touchdown run. White added another rushing score of 10 yards, and Chris Reynolds rounded out the second-quarter barrage with a 40-yard scoring strike from Browneagle. Reynolds added a 22-yard touchdown run in the third quarter.

Republic 78, Wellpinit 12: Alex Rivera ran for 158 yards and three touchdowns as the Tigers (3-2, 3-0) dumped the visiting Redskins (1-4, 1-2). Rivera also totaled 66 receiving yards and a pair of touchdown receptions. Quarterback Aaron Fritts threw for two touchdowns and added another on the ground for the Tigers. For Wellpinit, Jason Holt rushed for 143 yards on 16 carries, and Dwight Brisbois scored two rushing touchdowns.

Northeast 1B South

Wilbur-Creston 60, Soap Lake 34: Trystan Rosman threw for 196 yards and four touchdowns to guide the Wildcats (4-1, 3-0) past the Eagles (3-2, 0-2) at Wilbur. Mason Copeland added 151 yards on the ground and a 72-yard touchdown run, and Joey Rosman hauled in three passes for 82 yards and a touchdown, and also returned an interception 23 yards for another touchdown. Joe Cutshall threw for 214 yards and four touchdowns for Soap Lake.

Southeast 1B

Touchet 58, St. John-Endicott 6: Elias Martinez ran for 99 yards and two touchdowns to guide the Indians (3-0, 1-0) past the visiting Eagles (2-3, 0-2). Colton Gable opened the scoring for the Indians with an 18-yard run in the first quarter. The Eagles’ Wade West responded to tie the game at 6 with an 80-yard touchdown gallop. Touchet then scored the next 50 points. Touchet’s Colter McKeown ran for 64 yards and a touchdown and Gable ran for 60 yards and a score. West led St. John-Endicott with 154 rushing yards and one TD. Freshman Adam Blakeley ran for 56 yards on just five carries.

Central Washington 2B North

Kittitas 24, Lake Roosevelt 14: Austin Oursland guided the Coyotes to the win at Coulee Dam with a pair of passing touchdowns, while Colton Forman rushed for another score.


Timberlake 14, Moscow 7: Preston Rhodes ran for 103 yards on 15 carries and scored a touchdown on the ground and another through the air in the Tigers’ (3-2) win over the Bears (3-3) at Spirit Lake. Josh Lampert added another 84 yards rushing on six carries, and Bryce Johnson was 3-of-6 passing for 26 yards and the winning touchdown in the second quarter. The Bears scored in the second quarter on a Jack Clark-to-Jake Akey pass for 24 yards.

Bonners Ferry 20, Reardan 0: Christian Trocke passed for two scores and Anthony Skeen ran in another as the Badgers (3-3) blanked the host Indians (2-2).

Lakeside (ID) 44, Clark Fork 34: Charlie Zahir connected with Doug Schatz on four of his five touchdown passes – including the 53-yarder that sealed the game – to lead the visiting Knights (1-4) past the Wampus Cats (1-4).

Troy (ID) 52, Rosalia 6: The Trojans 46-6 halftime lead and dumped the visiting Spartans (3-2). Clay Shelton scored Rosalia’s lone touchdown on a 76-yard kickoff return.
