Obituary: Wizner, Aileen Mary

Age 88

WIZNER, Aileen Mary 1.26.1925- 9.28.2013 Aileen Mary (Hennessey) Wizner passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2013 at St. Anthony’s Home for Seniors in Spokane Valley, Washington.

Aileen was the daughter of Frank J. and Fernanda (Stroebele) Hennessey, born in Elizabeth, NJ on January 26, 1925.

Aileen married the sailor she wrote to during World War II, John Joseph Wizner in Ridgefield Park, NJ on January 5, 1946 and made their home in Saginaw, for over 25 years when Saginaw Police Sergeant John J. Wizner retired with his family to Cheboygan.

Aileen worked as a legal secretary, for the State of Michigan and later worked in the Cheboygan County Building until retirement in the 1986.

Aileen was devoted to Christ and her Catholic religion and was a member of St. Mary’s Cathedral in Saginaw, MI where most of her children attended school, a member of St. Charles in Cheboygan, and later St. Dominic Savio in Saginaw.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, visits to the Upper Peninsula, and traveling.

She always had a smile on her face and laughter in her blue eyes, but was happiest when singing along with her daughters.

Aileen suffered the effects of Dementia/Alzheimer’s for many years, but always kept a happy demeanor and bright smile on her face.

“God saw you getting tired, a cure not meant to be, so He wrapped His arms around you, and whispered, “Come with Me”.

The family wishes to extend their deep appreciation to everyone at St. Anthony’s Home for Seniors in Spokane Valley, Washington who cared for our mother and to all her wonderful caregivers over the years.

Throughout their married life together John and Aileen became parents to 13 children: John T. (Shirley) Wizner, Kathleen (Ed) Gross of Riverdale, MI, Mary Schwartz of Cheboygan David (Patty) Wizner, Noreen (Tom) Sawatzki of West Branch, Ruth (Paul) Liska of Mackinaw City, Joseph (Angela) Wizner of Spokane, WA, Nanette Allen of Cheboygan, Cheryl (Tom) Butler of Topinabee, MI, Marion Wizner of Gaylord, MI, Christopher Wizner, Suzanne Willis and Michael Wizner of Spokane, WA.

Aileen was a loving grandmother to sixteen grandsons, eleven grand- daughters, nine great-grandsons and ten great-granddaughters, four great-great-grandsons and one great-great-granddaughter.

She was doted upon by her wonderful sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, and many loving nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her sisters Ruth Maher, Doris (Pook) O’Callahan; her brother Arthur Hennessey, and two sons John T. Wizner and David G. Wizner.

She joins her family in Heaven where they are happy together with the Lord.

She has one remaining brother-in-law, Timothy O’Callaghan of Northville, MI.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 3, 2013, from 6:00-8:00 p.m., with a Rosary beginning at 7:00pm, at the Nordman-Christian Funeral Home.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, October 4, 2013 at 11:00am, with the family greeting friends beginning at 10:00a.m., at St. Mary/St.

Charles Catholic Church.

Craig Haider will officiate, burial will be at Mt.

Calvary Cemetery in Cheboygan.

Memorials may be made to “Right to Life”, Mass intentions, or the charity of one’s choice.
