TV Notes: ‘Horror Story’ lands in New Orleans

“AMERICAN HORROR STORY: COVEN”: The outlandish scare-fest returns for Round 3 and this time the setting is New Orleans, where Jessica Lange runs a finishing school for witches. Lange plays the Prada-wearing Fiona, an all-powerful spell-caster who finds herself trying to fend off multiple adversaries. The impressive cast also includes Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett and Sarah Paulson. 10 p.m. Wednesday, FX.

SUNDAY: Trick or treating arrives a bit early with the “The Simpsons” 24th “Treehouse of Horror” episode. Among the highlights: Bart is decapitated in a kite accident. D’oh! 8 p.m., Fox.

SUNDAY: A Victorian-era department store is the setting for love, comedy and intrigue in “The Paradise.” It’s a seven-part “Masterpiece Classic” series based on a novel by Emile Zola. 8 p.m. KSPS, 9 p.m., KCDT.

SUNDAY: Will “Witches of East End” make for spelling-binding television? Julia Ormond stars as an immortal mom in this new drama series about a family of witchy women living in a quiet seaside town. 10 p.m., Lifetime.

MONDAY: “Valentine Road” is a documentary that revisits the shocking 2008 murder of Lawrence “Larry” King, a 15-year-old Southern California resident who had begun exploring his gender identity. The film raises issues about the safety of LGBT teens and the ability to prevent such tragedies. 9 p.m., HBO.

TUESDAY: “Second chances” is the theme as “The Biggest Loser” returns to deal with more weighty issues. Among the contestants: Season 2 “American Idol” winner Ruben Studdard and Olympic weightlifter Holley Mangold. 8 p.m., NBC.

WEDNESDAY: Stephen Amell – and his highly acclaimed abs – are back for Season 2 of “Arrow.” The saga picks up five months after our hero failed to halt Malcolm Merlyn’s destructive assault on the Glades district. 8 p.m., The CW.

WEDNESDAY: “The Tomorrow People” has Stephen’s cousin, Robbie Amell, starring in a reboot of a British sci-fi series. He plays a teen who learns that he’s part of a secret group of people who possess supernatural powers. 9 p.m., The CW.

THURSDAY: “Once Upon a Time in Wonderland” is lavish spin off of “Once Upon a Time” that whisks viewers down the rabbit hole to a psychedelic fantasyland. Sophie Lowe stars as the new kick-butt Alice. 8 p.m., ABC.

THURSDAY: We’re expecting a mix of tears and joyous memories in tonight’s “Glee” episode, titled “The Quarterback.” It’s a farewell tribute to Finn Hudson, the likable character played by Cory Monteith, who died of a drug overdose in July. 8 p.m., Fox.

FRIDAY: Jorge Garcia drops in on former “Lost” co-star Daniel Dae Kim during tonight’s edition of “Hawaii Five-0.” He plays a conspiracy theorist who helps the team solve a double murder. 9 p.m., CBS.

SATURDAY: Bruce Willis joins the fun on “Saturday Night Live,” serving as the show’s host for a second time. Katy Perry is the musical guest. 11:30 p.m., NBC.
