Hyde helps Buckeyes extend win streak to 18

Carlos Hyde ran for a career-high 168 yards and three touchdowns, and No. 4 Ohio State (6-0, 2-0 Big Ten) rallied for a 40-30 win over No. 16 Northwestern (4-1, 0-1) on Saturday night in Evanston, Ill., to extend the nation’s longest win streak to 18 games.

The Buckeyes remained undefeated since Urban Meyer took over as coach last year.

(1) Alabama 45, Georgia State 3: AJ McCarron completed 15 of 16 passes for 166 yards and four TDs in the first half and the Crimson Tide (5-0) defeated the Panthers (0-5) in Tuscaloosa, Ala.

(3) Clemson 49, Syracuse 14: Tajh Boyd threw for 455 yards and five TDs in three quarters of work, and the Tigers (5-0, 3-0 ACC) manhandled the Orange (2-3, 0-1) in Syracuse, N.Y.

(6) Georgia 34, Tennessee 31 (OT): Marshall Morgan kicked a 42-yard field goal in overtime after the Bulldogs (4-1, 3-0 SEC) scored a tying touchdown with 5 seconds left in regulation to hold off the Volunteers (3-2, 0-1) in Knoxville, Tenn.

(7) Louisville 30, Temple 7: Teddy Bridgewater threw for 348 yards and two TDs and the Cardinals (5-0, 1-0 AAC) rolled over the Owls (0-5, 0-2) in Philadelphia.

(8) Florida State 63, (25) Maryland 0: Jameis Winston threw for 393 yards and five TDs and the Seminoles (5-0, 3-0 ACC) routed the Terrapins (4-1, 0-1) in Tallahassee, Fla.

(10) LSU 59, Mississippi State 26: Zach Mettenberger threw for 340 yards and two TDs, Odell Beckham Jr. had 179 yards receiving and two TDs, and the Tigers (5-1, 2-1 SEC) romped past the Bulldogs (2-3, 0-2) in Starkville, Miss.

(11) Oklahoma 20, TCU 17: Brennan Clay broke a 76-yard TD run late in the fourth quarter and the Sooners (5-0, 2-0 Big 12) held off the Horned Frogs (2-3, 0-2) in Norman, Okla.

(13) South Carolina 35, Kentucky 28: Connor Shaw passed for a TD and ran for a score and the Gamecocks (4-1, 2-1 SEC) defeated the Wildcats (1-4, 0-2) in Columbia, S.C.

(14) Miami 45, Georgia Tech 30: Stephen Morris threw for three TDs, Duke Johnson rushed for 184 yards and the Hurricanes (5-0, 1-0 ACC) scored 21 points in the final 7:15 to hold off the Yellow Jackets (3-2, 2-2) in Miami Gardens, Fla.

(17) Baylor 73, West Virginia 42: Bryce Petty threw for 347 yards with two TDs and had one of Baylor’s eight rushing TDs as the Bears (4-0, 1-0 Big 12) beat the Mountaineers (3-3, 1-2) in Waco, Texas.

(18) Florida 30, Arkansas 10: Solomon Patton turned two short catches into TDs and the Gators (4-1, 3-0 SEC) beat the Razorbacks (3-3, 0-2) in Gainesville, Fla.

(19) Michigan 42, Minnesota 13: Devin Gardner threw a 24-yard, go-ahead TD pass to Devin Funchess late in the first half and the Wolverines (5-0, 1-0 Big Ten) pulled away from the Golden Gophers (4-2, 0-2) in Ann Arbor, Mich.

(20) Texas Tech 54, Kansas 16: Freshman walk-on sensation Baker Mayfield passed for 368 yards before leaving with an injury in the third quarter and the Red Raiders (5-0, 2-0 Big 12) routed the Jayhawks (2-2, 0-1) in Lawrence, Kan.

(21) Oklahoma State 33, Kansas State 29: J.W. Walsh found Charlie Moore for a 6-yard TD pass with 4:16 left to help the Cowboys (4-1, 1-1 Big 12) slip past the Wildcats (2-3, 0-2) in Stillwater, Okla.

Auburn 30, (24) Mississippi 22: Nick Marshall ran for 140 yards and two scores and the Tigers (4-1, 2-1 SEC) beat the Rebels (3-2, 1-2) in Auburn, Ala.
