Douthitt makes difference
I am writing in support of re-electing Bob Douthitt to his position on the Spokane Public Schools Board (Position 2). I have known Douthitt since 1987 in several roles: as a fellow parent with kids of the same age, as a businessman, as a foundation volunteer and as a school board director.
Douthitt brings a pragmatic approach to the table that is supported by strong family values and common sense. His approach is not superficial. He insists on understanding the details. An example is his detailed understanding of the district’s budget. His bottom line is what is best for kids.
In my opinion, the best investment that we can make is in the education of our kids. Douthitt has exhibited his commitment to this endeavor as demonstrated by the district’s improvements since he joined the board. Our graduation rates have improved, we have a lean administration with new leadership, our college placement stats have improved and we are finally committed to full-time kindergarten.
At a time when our elected officials are in gridlock in Olympia and Washington, D.C., we depend on local officials that can get the job done by demonstrating strong leadership. Douthitt does this every day.
