Obituary: Ferger, William “Bill”

Age 78

FERGER, William “Bill” (Age 78) Loving husband, father, brother, father-in-law, grandfather and uncle, William Dennis Ferger.

enjoyed 78 years of life before passing away, surrounded by his family, on Sunday, October 6, 2013, in Coeur d’ Alene.

He was born August 15th, 1935 in Post Falls to John and Ethel Ferger.

Bill graduated from Post Falls HS in 1953 and then attended North Idaho Jr. College where he met Lila Jean Prichard.

They were married on March 20, 1955.

He obtained his BA from Eastern WA State College and earned a Masters in Education from the University of New Mexico.

He enjoyed a 37 year career as an educator, coach and principal in the East Valley School District where he influenced the lives of many.

He was instrumental in implementing cutting edge elementary programs and was highly regarded by those who knew him.

Bill is survived at their Liberty Lake home by Lila, his beloved wife of 58 years, his daughter Nikki Holbart (Mike), son Bill Jr. (Mary), brothers Bob (Ethel) and Ken (Carol), two grandchildren, Amy Upmeyer (Neil) and Ryan Averill as well as several loving nieces and nephews.

Bill’s passion was traveling.

This included numerous Hawaiian/Caribbean cruises and vacations and he was always excited when a travel brochure arrived in the mail.

He was a diehard Coug, Seahawk, Mariner and Zag fan.

A remembrance of Bill’s life will be held Saturday, October 12, 2013, at 3:00 P.M.

Bill’s motto was “Life’s a Cruise”, so we encourage tropical attire.
