Paul McCartney is a high school hit
Paul McCartney celebrated his second wedding anniversary with his wife and a few hundred high school students on Wednesday. The 71-year-old performed at New York’s Frank Sinatra School of the Arts, which was opened by Tony Bennett.
McCartney said, “Happy anniversary, Baby,” to Nancy Shevell before going into his latest song, called “New.” He said the song was inspired by his wife as the students turned to her and gushed.
The event with iHeartRadio was to celebrate McCartney’s album, also called “New,” out next week.
McCartney told the students on Wednesday, which would have been John Lennon’s 73rd birthday, that he connected with Lennon through songwriting. “We weren’t trained,” he told the teenagers. “You guys have an advantage.”
McCartney ended the day with inspiration to the arts students: “You rock on. You be great.”
Panettiere engaged to Olympic boxer
“Nashville” star Hayden Panettiere confirmed her engagement to Olympic boxer Wladimir Klitschko.
Appearing on Wednesday’s “Live with Kelly and Michael,” the 24-year-old actress was flashing a large diamond ring that prompted host Kelly Ripa to inquire what it might signify.
Panettiere acknowledged she’s engaged as the studio audience cheered. She added that she and longtime boyfriend Klitschko haven’t set a wedding date.
On ABC’s “Nashville,” Panettiere plays scheming up-and-coming country music star Juliette Barnes.
Joan Rivers sued in condo dispute
Comedian and condo board president Joan Rivers is being sued for $15 million in a dispute involving a former downstairs neighbor in her luxury New York City building. The lawsuit was filed Wednesday in state Supreme Court in Manhattan.
The New York Daily News reported that former neighbor Elizabeth Hazan signed ownership of the $2 million two-bedroom unit to Real Estate Holdings Group in July. The company contends Rivers and others ripped wires from the unit’s cable box and squirted glue in its locks. It said building officials recently denied Hazan access to the apartment. The paper said Hazan has a long-running battle with Rivers over unpaid condo fees.
A lawyer for Rivers says he’s preparing a response to the suit. Rivers lives in the building’s $30 million upstairs penthouse.
