Obituary: Bayer, Grace M.

Age 98

BAYER, Grace M. August 2, 1915- October 4, 2013 Grace M. Bayer passed away peacefully Friday, October 4th of natural causes.

Grace was born August 2nd, 1915 in Schenectady, New York to Caroline and Henry Kruse.

At the age of two her family moved to Spokane, Washington where she became the second oldest to five siblings.

Grace graduated from Lewis and Clark High School and went to work for the Washington Water Power.

She married Milton (Clyde) Bayer in 1945.

While raising three children, she went to work as the bookkeeper for the American Red Cross.

During that time she was both a Campfire leader and a Cub Scout den mother.

Upon retirement of both Grace and Clyde, they moved to Olympia to be close to their children and grandchildren.

Grace was an avid seamstress, knitter, and gardener and especially enjoyed watching her grandchildren play various sports.

Grace is survived by her daughter, Linda Cook (Fred), her son, Terry Bayer (Mary Anne), five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild and her youngest brother Henry.

She was predeceased by her husband, Clyde, in 1983, her long-time companion, Wes Magers, August 29th, 2013 and her youngest son, Jerry, in 1975.

Visitation will be Thursday, October 10th at Mills and Mills, Tumwater, WA from 3-7pm.

A graveside service will be held at 3pm, Monday, October 14th at Riverside Memorial Park in Spokane.

Gifts of rememberance may be made to the American Red Cross.

The family wishes to express their thanks to Tamara’s Adult Family Home and Providence hospice for their loving care the last days of her life.
