Chiefs rally, beat Hitmen in shootout

CALGARY, Alberta – Jason Fram scored the only goal of the shootout to give Spokane a 3-2 come-from-behind victory over the Calgary Hitmen in Western Hockey League action Sunday. The Chiefs improved to 8-2 and are tied with Seattle for first place in the WHL’s U.S. Division at 16 points. Spokane fell behind 2-0 in the second period. Cole Wedman’s first goal of the season, at 1:02 of the third period, cut the Calgary lead in half. Mitch Holmberg, who assisted on Wedman’s goal, scored his league-leading 12th goal of the season at 8:55 to tie the game. Reid Gow and Markson Bechtold provided assists. Fram’s winning goal came in the sixth round of the shootout. Eric Williams made 26 saves for the Chiefs to earn his sixth victory of the season. Holmberg has scored a point in all 10 of Spokane’s games, and leads the WHL with 25 points. The Chiefs, now 6-2 on the road, return to the Arena for a season-long five-game homestand starting Wednesday at 7:05 p.m. against Swift Current.
