Lost cat found 80 miles from home

A Moscow cat that went missing at the end of September turned up more than 80 miles from home after it jumped onto a delivery truck headed to Spokane.

Moscow’s Denise Schremser, who works at Cedar Veterinary Hospital, said her long-haired gray cat, Ashton, disappeared Sept. 26 from his home at the veterinary hospital.

After about four days of putting up posters in the area and calling local shelters, Schremser recalled a previous time when Ashton had jumped onto a delivery truck, then got scared when the driver turned on the ignition. When she realized that Ashton had gone missing the same day as their most recent delivery, she decided to see if the delivery company had seen him.

Two days later, on Oct. 2, Schremser brought Ashton home from the Oak Harbor Freight Lines warehouse in Spokane.

She said she never would have found him without the help of missingpetpartnership.org, a website that offers advice on finding lost pets.
