Liberty Lake police reunite boy with his mother

A resident called the Liberty Lake Police Department the morning of Oct. 8 to report that a boy had been wandering in the area of 21000 East Mission Avenue for more than two hours. An officer contacted the boy, who said his father had dropped him off at school but he didn’t know where to go, said Police Chief Brian Asmus.

The boy warmed up in the patrol car while his mother was called to come pick him up, Asmus said.

Police were called to Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center on Saturday evening when a 17-year-old girl told staff she was being abused. An officer interviewed the girl and noted that she was not injured, Asmus said. The parents were later interviewed separately. Both told police that there had been an argument about an upcoming move to Yakima and their daughter had threatened to report them to Child Protective Services in an effort to get them fired from their new jobs, Asmus said.

The officer determined that no abuse had taken place, Asmus said. The family has since moved and information about the incident has been forwarded to the Yakima CPS office in case there are further allegations, he said.
