NFL notes: Ndamukong Suh reportedly fined for hit on Browns QB Brandon Weeden

A person familiar with the decision tells the Associated Press that the NFL has fined Detroit Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh $31,500 for a hit on Cleveland Browns quarterback Brandon Weeden.

The person spoke Wednesday on condition of anonymity because the fine had not been announced.

Earlier in the day, Suh insisted he was unaware the NFL was reviewing his hit on Weeden on Sunday. Suh wasn’t penalized for the play, but it was shown on a video posted on NFL.com as vice president of officiating Dean Blandino said he wanted to look at it more for “potential helmet to the body.”

Suh was fined $100,000 for an illegal block on Minnesota center John Sullivan in Week 1.

Manning mum

Thanks to the musings of his former owner, Peyton Manning’s return to Indianapolis this week has turned into something less than the warm-and-fuzzy homecoming it could have been.

If any of that bothers No. 18, it’s not showing.

Manning said he had no comment when asked for his reaction to Colts owner Jim Irsay’s interview earlier this week when he said he had to give up the old Indy offense’s “Star Wars” numbers in a quest for more Super Bowl rings.

On Sunday, Manning returns to Indianapolis for his first game as a visitor.
