Obituary: Nordhagen, Floyd And Margaret

NORDHAGEN, Floyd (b.

10-23-1920) Margaret (b.

03-24-1925) Floyd and Margaret Nordhagen went to be with their Lord and Savior on Sunday, October 13, 2013.

They are survived by four children and their spouses, Bonnie Erdman (Homer), Marvin (Lynn), Melvin (Sandra), and Darlene (Bill); their grandchildren, Loren, Layne, and Melody Erdman, Shelina Bahr, Sean Nordhagen, Tracy Nordhagen, Tamara Knudson, Lisa Parekh, Emily Nordhagen, Erik Nordhagen, and Katie Bridges; 24 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandson.

Floyd was born October 23, 1920 in North Dakota.

He worked in the shipyard during WWII and afterward at several family owned businesses as a garage mechanic, in hardware sales, truck driving, logging, and house moving.

He had a salvage business for many years before moving to the Chattaroy farm.

There he spent his final 48 years, first raising pigs and later concentrating on his “pets,” a herd of cattle.

He loved fishing, singing, playing his guitar, and telling jokes.

Margaret was born in Palouse, Washington, March 24, 1925.

She had a long career as a bookkeeper at Montgomery Ward, and much longer as church secretary, board member, and camp cook, and was much loved by everyone.

Although they had very little, they were incredibly giving to anyone in need.

They had been married and in love for 68 years, and were an unfailing example of faith, generosity, and love to everyone they met, always believing that the Lord would take care of them.

We believe God did just that by taking both of them together, and quickly, so that they did not suffer.

They could hardly stand to be away from one another, even for just a few hours; their love was almost legendary.

They were found holding hands after the accident, incredibly beautiful and fitting for a couple who was truly in love for almost all of their lives.

Funeral Services for Mr. and Mrs. Nordhagen will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 19, 2013, in Elk, WA at the Country Church of the Open Bible located on Elk-to-Hiway Road at Collins Rd., with a potluck dinner for everyone immediately following the funeral at the church; food dishes welcomed.

Interment will follow the dinner at the Chattaroy Community Cemetery on Jim Hill Road, just south of Chattaroy.

LAUER FUNERAL HOME in Deer Park, Washington.
