Bears top G-Prep, stay tied for first

Kelsey Turnbow scored twice as Central Valley kept pace with Mead atop the Greater Spokane League girls soccer standings with a 4-0 win over Gonzaga Prep (6-7, 3-4) Friday at CV.

Turnbow’s first goal came in the first minute and she later capped the scoring in the 44th minute.

Savannah Hoekstra added a goal and two assists for the Bears (10-1, 6-1), who have two remaining regular-season games – Wednesday against Lewis and Clark and next Friday against North Central.

Mead 7, Rogers 0: Claire Neder had a hat trick as the Panthers (11-1, 6-1) routed the host Pirates (3-9, 0-7). Neder’s first goal came off an assist from Anna Mattingly in the 27th minute. She added two in the second half.

Ferris 3, University 1: Sydney Clements, Maegan O’Neill and Lauren Miller all scored to lead the Saxons (8-4, 4-3) past the Titans (6-4, 5-2) at the Southside Sports Complex.

Lewis and Clark 5, Shadle Park 1: Sarah Curran scored twice in the second half to power the Tigers (10-2, 5-2) past the host Highlanders (3-7, 1-6). Chloe Williams gave LC an early lead with an unassisted goal in the second minute.

Mt. Spokane 7, North Central 1: Brittney Sanders and Whitney Weaver scored two goals apiece to lead the Wildcats (7-4, 3-4) past the visiting Indians (4-6, 2-5).

Coeur d’Alene Charter 3, Timberlake 0: Abby Bartlett and Emily Osborne-Moss scored first-half goals and the Panthers blanked the Tigers in an Idaho 3A District I playoff match at Rotary Field in Rathdrum. Coeur d’Alene Charter will play Bonners Ferry in the district title match today.

Boys soccer

Bonners Ferry 10, Orofino 0: Jake Tremble and Jesus Mendez scored two goals apiece to power the Badgers (8-7) past the Maniacs in an Idaho 3A District I playoff match in Rathdrum. Bonners Ferry will take on St. Maries today for a berth to the State 3A tournament.

St. Maries 4, Priest River 0: Jacob McGregor’s second-half hat trick propelled the Lumberjacks (8-6) past the Spartans (2-10) in a 3A District I match in Rathdrum.

Volleyball

Gonzaga Prep def. Rogers: Maria Adams had a match-high 13 kills and Sara Mackin added 17 assists, 11 digs, five kills and two blocks as the Bullpups (4-2) swept the visiting Pirates (1-5) 25-14, 25-17, 25-17 in a GSL match.

Shadle Park def. North Central: Match scores were 25-13, 25-8 and 25-17.
