Football OK, but boxing?

With all of the emphasis on reducing concussions in football and the new “targeting” rules, I think this is a good step in reducing these injuries.

At the same time of this increased emphasis in reducing concussions in football, we still allow boxing and cage fighting where no protective headgear is worn and the purpose of these sports(?) appears to be to give the opponent a concussion and render them unconscious and by doing so you are rewarded with a victory.

Am I the only person that finds this strange?
