Trains strain infrastructure

Regarding increased traffic by rail regarding coal from Wyoming to China: Has anyone done a study on the impact to our old bridges and other infrastructure? I was driving on Napa Street off Trent Avenue when I went through an underpass just south of Trent, and a train was coming through. I looked at this old bridge and thought, “This will really support at least a 10-fold increase in rail traffic, along with all the disruptive train whistles that the residents will have to endure?”

Who will pay for the maintenance of the increased traffic? Not the train industry. They will push it on you and me, common taxpayers. I am all for jobs, but this is a costly and possibly tragic mistake if a bridge collapses. I am against this proposal unless the train transportation corporations come up with a plan to address this.
